  • October 2nd, 2023

On October 2nd, 2023 me and my siblings went to the Waco Mammoth National Monument. There, me and my siblings got to see real Colombian Mammoth bones. These bone were discovered in 1978 by Paul Barron and Eddie Bufkin when they were teenagers. In 1978 these boy were trespassing and found a Colombian Mammoth bone. They didn’t know this at first so when they found the bone and they took it to a nearby museum to get it looked at. The research concluded it was a Colombian Mammoth femur bone. The owner of the property found out what the boys had discovered on his property, and he allowed paleontologists and geologists to look for more bones. In 1978-1980 they found five full skeletons of female Colombian Mammoths! Due to a lack of funding there was not a full scale excavation. After some flooding happened in Waco, Texas people were able to find 11 full skeletons of mammoths. Once this happened people started to make a building to uncover these mammoth skeletons and they also made dams to make sure no other flooding happened. A couple of years later and they were able to find 15 more full skeletons of mammoths. One thing to mention here is that they were all females. When there is a group of female mammoths it is called A Nursery. In 1996, Sam Jack McGlasson (this was the man that owned the property) donated just under five acres of land to the city of Waco for the purpose of developing research. A total of 26 Colombian Mammoths were found along with some other ancient animal bones. And in 2009 this because a place open to the public to visit.

  • My #1 Priority

    Daily writing prompt
    What’s your #1 priority tomorrow?

My #1 Priority is very important to me and this should be very important to others as well. Many people would post their answer being their health which is perfectly fine, but I am willing to bet that most of them are going to be scrolling on TikTok and eating some unhealthy foods. Anyway, my #1 priority is spending some time with God and our savior Jesus Christ. In the morning, noon, and night by reading the Bible, praying, and worshiping Jesus. Yes I am a Christian and I’m not afraid to announce that. Reading the Bible is important to learn what God wants you to do. Praying is important to talk with God and communicate. Worshiping is important to show how much you love Jesus. Even in the hard times it is good to do these three things ever day. You might say well you probably haven’t experienced some hard times, and that would not be true. I have been a christian now for a little over a month and last Sunday after worship service was done, the Youth group (which I am a part of) was going to go to a different church to sort clothes to give to kids who need them. When we were done we got into a little car accident and I was the only one hurt. The tissue on the inside of my bottom lip tore terribly and I had to be taken to the hospital to get stitches is what I had thought. What I didn’t know is that it was severe enough that I had to get a surgery early the next morning. Now when we were on the way to the hospital there was a notification on the radio that said there would be baseball-sized hail. Luckily, it didn’t start hailing until we got in the hospital even though we were stuck in traffic for a little while. And even though our car was out in the open and it was hailing terribly outside, the car did not get damaged like other cars next to us. Many cars windshields were broken, but ours wasn’t. Even though bad things happen you need to realize the blessing that also happen. My surgery went well and I’m now recovering. This is one of the many of the reasons why I will forever worship God and make him my #1 priority ever day.
