Ashley Ziarnick's School Work

Science- We talked about howto grow strawberries and the different types. These types are -Earliglow -Wendy -Allstar -Flavorfest -Jewel- Sparkle- Cavendish.

History- We learned about Philip II of Macedon. He was the son of the King. He was born in 382 BC. Phillip grew up as a political prisoners in the city of Thebes. He became King in 358 BC. He made peace treaties with other city- states, but later he would take them out to grow his empire. He died at the age of 46 because of assassination.

English- We talked more about how to write a book report- definition and organization. He gave us a few tips and showed us what we should write for the book report.

Math- We reviewed Checks and Checkbooks. We also reviewed credit cards and unit prices.

History- We reviewed the Peloponnesian Wars and the Corinthian War.

Science- We learned how to make a worm compost. There are not used with regular Earth worms they use Red Wigglers Earth worms.

English- We talked about letter writing, vocabulary, and how to write a book report. He gave us tips on how to write a book report, he also told us which types of books we should choose.

Math- We talked about Unit Prices. A unit price is the price for one item or measurement, such as a pound, a kilogram, or a pint, which can be used to compare the same type of goods sold in varying weights and amounts. We did some Math problems with Unit Prices and that’s it.

History- Today we learned about the Corinthian War. The Corinthian War was a followup of the Peloponnesian War. The War lasted 395-387 BC. It was against Sparta and other city-states. This War Happened because Sparta got everything from the war and the allies didn’t get credit. The city-states (Thebes and Corinth) and others were wining because Sparta was weak at the time. The Persians entered the war to fight against Sparta. After 8 years of fighting the war was brought to a close because of a peace treaty.

Science- Today we reviewed what we learned last week. We reviewed Natural Pest Control, mulching, weeding, and Insects Fiend or Foes. We talked about how to get rid of insects without using chemicals.

English- We did more of a Semester Wrap. We reviewed paragraph basics, ordering your writing, and more grammar.

Math- We learned about credit cards and budgeting. We learned about what the credit card do what can happen if don’t the credit card bill and others things about it. We also talked about budgeting. He talked about trying to make a list of things and try to budget them like foods, try to learn ow much you want to spend on food and try to budget it.

Science- We talked about bugs in the the garden being useful of not. We made this list of useful insects. – garden spider – predatory mites – wheel bug – green lacewing . Others bugs can be harmful, like caterpillars and pill bugs.

History- We talked even more about Peloponnesian War. Athens was struggle, but they kept fighting back and forth. Athens was starting to win more and more. During the Naval battle Sparta won and the king of Athens just quite. The Athenians won the next battle but didn’t finish up the Spartans because of really bad weather. The Spartans ran, so the Athenians pursued them. The Athenians ended up losing the next battle, so the Athenians surrendered and had to give up all there land.

English- We did a semester wrap up or a review of what we learned of the semester. We reviewed debunking writing myths, grammar, sentence basics, and the 8 parts of speech. We talked about others things to but these were the man things.

Math- We talked about Checks and Checkbooks. Talked about what they good for, they send money to another persons account. We also talked about how to write a check and how to Balance a Checkbook.

Science- We were talking about weeding, and how to tell what is a weed and what is not. We were also talking about how to do weeding chemical free.

Math- We reviewed Metric Units of Volume, Metric Units of Mass, Metric Units of Length, and Units of Temperature.

History- We learned more about the Peloponnesian War.

English- We talked about Direct and Indirect Objects. A direct object is the person or thing that directly receives the action or effect of the verb. a noun phrase referring to someone or something that is affected by the action of a transitive verb, but is not the primary object.

Math- We learned about the Units of Temperature and Metric Units of Volume. Units of Temperature- The 2 ways to measure the temperature is by Fahrenheit and Celsius. The freezing point for *f is 32 degrees, while for *C it’s 0. The boiling point of water for *F is 212 degrees, but for *C it 100. He showed us more references, and then we moved on to Metric Units of Volume. Metric Units of Volume- The Metric Units of Volumes are liter (l) and milliliter (ml). He talked more about showed us some math problems with it, and he also shoe one ml. is 1/1000 of a l.

Science- We learned about mulch because we have been learning about farming. He talked a lot about how it can benefit plants greatly. He also talked about the different types of mulch. The different types are grass and leaves and wood pieces. He talked more about how you need to put so you don’t overdo it and cause the pants to be unhealthy.

History- We learned about the first Peloponnesian War. It Started in 431 BC -404 BC. The enemies where Sparta and Athens. The reason it started was because of Athens trying to take over the Dalian League, the vast naval alliance that allowed it to dominate the Mediterranean Sea.

English- We learned about Predicate Adjectives. They are adjectives that describe the subject of a sentence or clause and are linked to the subject by linking a verb.

 We were building the tower of Babel, a wondrous sight. It was so tall it went past the clouds and it would take days to get to the top. We were more than halfway done, when God cursed us because we were being too proud and weren’t thanking God, or giving credit to him. We all got cursed with a new language. We couldn’t understand each other. Only a few had the same language. 

    Since we couldn’t understand each other we moved away. The people that spoke my language went to Europe, so the others wouldn’t find us. We’ve heard of Europe before, but we didn’t know it was going to be amazing. There was more clean water and beautiful lands.  

     Most people were depressed because they had to leave their families and their friends. Other than that life was great, we built colonies, then towns, then villages and life was good.

My rock is limestone it is found a lot where I live. It is a sedimentary rock. It’s made up of many little sea organisms, for example: coral and oysters. These ocean objects clump together and then the water evaporates over time and you left with limestone. Limestone is really cool!

Limestone is found a lot around here because where there was water their was a drought. We have been having droughts and very little rain. Their’s not much dirt so lots of big rocks are found, and as you guessed most of it is limestone. Limestone is found in a lot of places, but it is also found a lot here.

My rock ( limestone ) has a yellowish color. I can tell its made of different shells. It’s as big as the rest of the limestone around it. Many bumps and dents it has. It also had a pill bug living under it. My rock, (limestone) is kind of in the shape of a trapezoid. A very thick trapezoid.

There is not much more to talk about the rock, but I will try. This rock was found with a lot of other limestone and many other rocks. And when I say there is a lot of rocks, I am not joking. There are many huge rocks, cacti, and cedar trees. There are a few oak trees, but mostly cedar.

To rap things up my rock is limestone and it’s a pretty interesting rock. Its interesting because it is made up of many sea organisms, has a lot of history to it. Anyways thank you for reading and stay tuned for my next post.
